Career Assessment

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator – Career Report

My report type is ISFJ which indicates the following information about possible careers that might fit me in the future:

Introversion – People who prefer introversion tend to focus on the inner world of ideas and impressions

Sensing – People who prefer Sensing tend to take in information through the five senses and focus on the here and now

Feeling – People who prefer Feeling tend to make decisions based primarily on values and on subjective evaluation of person-centered concerns.

Judging – people who prefer Judging tend to like a planned and organized approach to life and want to have things settled.

ISFJs are patient, loyal and caring people, interesting in the concerns and feelings of others. Because they are quiet and modest people, they prefer to share their strong feelings and deep convictions only with those they know well. They are protective, loyal, and devoted friends and take great pride and satisfaction from the accomplishments of their friends and family. ISFJs have a strong work ethic and take all their commitments seriously. However, they may feel overwhelmed when learning new technical skills because they want to complete everything they do with meticulous care. They may avoid asking for help, not wanting to trouble anyone else.

As an ISFJ, I am good at working hard and doing whatever is needed until the job is finished, respecting the chain of command and following necessary rules and procedures, helping others by explaining tasks with patience and clarity, working with routines or repeated, sequential tasks, and carefully and thoroughly dealing with details and documenting activities. Also, I need to watch my tendency to avoid dealing with conflict and not asserting my needs, resist trying new or unconventional methods, get mired in the details of my work and not seeing the big picture, becoming overwhelmed when several projects need my attention at once, and finally, becoming discourage if I don’t feel appreciated or needed.

Strong Interest Inventory

My Strong Interest Inventory revealed that my personal interest reflect three top themes about my personality and interest. My top two themes included Social Artistic. A social themes is often associated with people that exhibit the values of cooperation, generosity, and service to others while also exhibiting people skills, verbal ability, listening, and showing understanding. An artistic theme is often associated with people the hold value in beauty, originality, independence, and imagination. The following is a brief description of my top two themes that could help you get a better sense of who I am as a person:

Social people help, care for, and teach others. They are not necessarily social butterflies; rather, this cluster describes people who thrive in situations where they can work with other people and help society – one person at a time. These are the caring and helpful people who so often enrich the lives of those around them. They have the satisfaction of knowing they’ve done their part, but usually never think of it in those terms. Social people like working in group. They like communicating with others. They like solving problems through discussion and compromise. But most of all, they love making a difference in the lives of others.

Artistic people create and enjoy art. They have a great appreciation for music, drama, writing, cooking and visual art. To an artistic person, creativity, beauty, and aesthetics give sustenance to life. Self-expression is not an afterthought in their work; they prefer careers that are conducive to and supportive of their creative impulses. They are free-spirited and fiercely independent people, rapt with emotion and eager to capture, document, and communicate the life experience. Artistic people not only have little trouble telling us who they are, they often tell us a little bit about who we are as a person.
