Alpha Phi Omega

As an advocate of service as a tool of envolvement, I am a active member and Vice President of Communications of Alpha Phi Omega on Indiana Universities campus. Alpha Phi Omega is a National Service Fraternity — college students gathered together in an organization based on fraternalism and founded on the principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service.  Its aim is to further the freedom that is our national, educational and intellectual heritage. APO is a very large organization. Nearly 300,000 members have been initiated since our founding in 1925. Our current membership exceeds 17,000 students at 350 colleges and universities. It has also expanded to other countries with chapters in the Phillipines, Australia, and Canada. As a member, I participate in social events as well as over 30 hours of community service per semester that is served anywhere from elementary schools to retirement homes. In addition, I am the service chair for interfaith winter shelter. This is a low-barrier shelter for the homeless that is open from November 1st for March 31st. I organize volunteer training, events and coordination volunteer participation for this organization. In addition, as the VP of Communications I manage the fraternity's email account, as well as, their social media pages. As part of my position, I also got the opportunity to learn how to build, design and maintain a webpage.  This can be found at the following address: http://alphaphiomegamu.weebly.com/.

Volunteer

Through my association with Alpha Phi Omega and through my own desire to help the community, I get the opportunity to volunteer in the community 30 or more hours each semester.  As a result, I have gotten to volunteer at many Bloomington organizations including, but not limited to, New Hope Family Shelter, Interfaith Winter Shelter, Girls, inc., Wild Care, inc., Wonderlab, Bell Trace Retirement Community and Down Syndrome Family Connection.

Cox Exploratory Scholar

I am an active member of the Cox Exploratory Scholars. The Cox Exploratory Scholars Program provides for hard-working Indiana residents who are academically strong, have demonstrated financial need, and have a desire to explore a number of identified majors. In compensation for 8 to 10 hours/week in an on campus job, students are provided full cost of attendance scholarships as well as leadership, preparedness, and success training as well as self-reflection training.

Artwork

I am an avid artist in my community selling much of my artwork on a comission basis. I’ve been creating my own works out of my small personal business, ARP Designs. Examples of my works can be found below and at the following web address: https://www.facebook.com/Alyssa-Pavichs-Art-171088426268115/.
