Product Management Summer Intern

May 2015 - July 2015

At Cook, Inc. during their internship program between the months of May and August,interns are given tasks that prepare them for potential future careers in the related fields of Product or Project Managment, Marketing, Communications or Sales. Among all of the interns there are shared tasks that lay the foundation of the internship program. These shared tasks are listed below.

All Intern Responsibilities:

  • Attend weekly collaborative meeting with Intern Program Coordinators

    • Learn more about the company and history

    • Network with other interns and employees

    • Ask questions about future careers in healthcare industry

  • Research, Create, and Present a CASE presentation

    • Each group is assigned a problem associated with a different department of the company​

    • Each group meets with a product manager to learn how to fix health problem

    • Each group collaborates research and presentation

    • Each group presents in front of entire intern population

  • Attend two day culture connect event

    • Day one includes presentations from each department of Cook Medical​, networking activies to meet all of intern whole, brand marketing presentation and a previous Interns, now employee panel

  • Collaborate with assigned mentor and co-workers

  • Prepare and Research a CAPS presention to present to a large body of employees

    • Larger assignment givien to each individual intern based on placement ​

More specifically, within the department that I was assigned to of Peripheral Intervention, I became involved with a variety of  projects and assignemts that not only help me build new skills as an employee and worker, but also as an individual. Among the experiences I got the opportunity to experience included the following:

 

Additional Intern Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct research and develop documents for company use in a variety of areas including Product Management, Consolidation and Marketing.

  • Travel to a Conference in Chicago

    • I was able to attend conference meetings, talks, and work at the booth for Cook, Inc.

    • Network with employees from other sections of the company 

  • Collaborate with a team in a case study project where each group was given a patient with a disorder and we had to conduct research and present findings.

  • Studied the growth and development of core competency product lines of the company in order to analyze and present on their change over time 

  • Attended and observed Peripheral Intervention meetings between clients and different departments

  • Create a S.W.O.T analysis for each core competency product line that I studied

  • Aided in creating action items for a business plan while working closely with product managers

  • Presented my findings to 50 or more co-workers and employees of the company
